When you create an account and use LitFlo, we collect:

• Your name and email address
• Your research preferences (topics, search terms, fields)
• Paper ratings you submit (1–5 stars per paper)
• Your digest frequency preference (daily or weekly)
• Payment information — processed by Stripe, not stored by us
• Basic usage data (email open events via Resend)

We do not collect browsing history, location data, or any data beyond what is necessary to operate the Service.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely to:

• Deliver your personalised daily or weekly research digest
• Improve paper recommendations using your rating history
• Send transactional emails (digest, subscription, account notices)
• Process your subscription payment via Stripe

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your data with third parties except as described in Section 4.

4. Third-Party Services

LitFlo uses the following third-party services to operate:

• Supabase — stores your account data and preferences
• Resend — delivers your email digest
• Stripe — processes subscription payments
• Vercel — hosts the LitFlo application

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data required for each service to function.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes (e.g. billing records).

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Unsubscribe from emails at any time via the unsubscribe link in any digest

LitFlo uses a session cookie set by Supabase to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

8. Children's Privacy

LitFlo is intended for researchers and academics. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. We will notify you by email of any material changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
